Coupling of plasticity and damage in glass fibre reinforced polymer composites

This study addresses the nonlinear stress-strain response in glass fibre reinforced polymer composite laminates. Loading and unloading of these laminates indicate that the nonlinear response is caused by both damage and plasticity. A user defined material model is implemented in the finite element code LS-DYNA. The damage evolution is based on the Puck failure criterion , and the plastic behaviour is based on the quadratic Hill yield criterion for anisotropic materials .
