In order to handle the very intense heavy ion beams from the GANIL-SPIRAL2 superconducting linear accelerator (LINAG), a specific target station for non-radioactive material was designed and built for the Super-Separator-Spectrometer S3. After testing separately all components of this station, the whole system was evaluated under realistic irradiation conditions. This paper reports on the specifications of the set-up and the results of the test.
