Abstract
This work describes the analysis and optimization of a Time Resolved Photoluminescence instrument to improve its optical performances. Simulation of the light behaviour inside the sample material have been done to maximize light extraction and the collection of the photoluminescence signal. The experimental setup of the instrument was thus improved: the sample orientation was modified, the collecting lens was changed, and a beam dump on the reflected excitation beam was added. The new performances show up to 10 folds enhancement in the S/N ratio with respect to those of the commercial setup.
