Analysis of the independent double-boost interleaved converter under asymmetrical output voltage operating conditions

Abstract
This paper investigates the asymmetrical operation of the Independent Double-Boost Interleaved Converter (IDBIC). The DC-DC topology integrates two conventional boost converters connected in parallel at the input and in series at the output. A distinguishing feature of the IDBIC is the ability of the integrated boost cells to operate independently in both symmetrical and asymmetrical modes. This functionality is particularly advantageous for applications such as voltage balancing and interconnection within bipolar DC microgrids. The study provides a detailed analysis of the operating principles unique to this patented structure, supported by mathematical modeling and experimental validation using a laboratory prototype.
