Photon strength function deduced from photon scattering and neutron capture

The dipole strength function of 78Se and 196Pt are investigated by two different experimental methods, capture of cold neutrons in 77Se and 195Pt and photon scattering experiments on 78Se and 196Pt. Considering the different ways of excitation, the strength function deduced from the results are expected to agree.
The report shows the status of the data analysis and presents first preliminary results.
