Depending on the environment of the acceleration processes for ultra-high energy cosmic rays, photons and neutrinos may be produced by interactions in the sources. If so, observations of gamma-rays or neutrinos could pinpoint the sources. This paper reviews some aspects of the search for photons and neutrinos from possible sources of ultra-high energy cosmic rays.
