α+12C rotational bands in 16O

The total quantum number N of the α+12C rotational bands in 16O is determined by a study of α+12C elastic scattering. The 8+ and 9− states are found around the excitation energy Ex = 30 MeV and they are the member of the known rotational bands. At the same time, the 02+ state (Ex = 6.05 MeV) is found to be dominated by N = 8.
