SCAR, a tool developed by Orano, computes both gamma and neutron DER calculation with MCNP6.2 for realistic geometries, representatives of the fuel cycle radioactive sources, with high-level of confidence and in a short computer time. Obtaining DER values with relative error inferior to 5 %, for a common waste canister, for forty shielding thickness and several distances from the source is about 1 minute of engineer time and 10 min of computer time (8 CPU @ 3GHz). The use of SCAR in industrial projects at Orano has already presented benefits in term of shielding thickness and therefore in global cost of a project. The future objective of SCAR is to create a large DER data set in order to train an AI which will be implemented into civil engineering software to automatically size the thickness of the facilities walls. The tool is not intended to be distributed outside of Orano.
