Using UV absorption measurements for estimation of laser damage thresholds in ultrafast laser applications

Laser damage for ultrafast pulses is connected to the UV absorption edge via bandgap. This connection may be used to facilitate damage testing and thus coating development. Preliminary results are presented here.
