The ongoing challenge is to design an optimum braking system that meets heat transfer, weight and packaging requirements. This study shows an optimal design of the ventilated disc brake system by modifying the structure of the disc fins in order to evacuate the heat generated during braking and accelerate the cooling rate. The calculations were carried out using the finite element method (FEM) and COMSOL Multiphysics 6.1 software.
