In this study, we report the fusion excitation function for the 7Li + 27Al system, measured at beam energies around the Coulomb barrier (from 8.0 MeV to 11 MeV). The experiment was performed with the EN Tandem Van de Graaff Accelerator facility at ININ, Mexico. Through -spectra analysis, the -rays produced in the reaction were identified and then the corresponding fusion excitation functions of the produced nuclei were determined. Fusion-evaporation calculations were performed using the PACE2, LILITA, and CASCADE codes and compared with experimental data. The obtained total fusion cross section shows a good agreement with previously reported data. Furthermore, the higher production than predicted by fusion-evaporation codes, observed for 26Mg and 28Si nuclei, suggests a contribution of proton-transfer process in the production of these nuclei.
