Abstract
The Equation of motion phonon method in its Bogoliubov quasiparticle version is adopted to determine the electric dipole (E1) response of 80Ge in order to clarify the properties of the low-lying E1 decay transitions to the first excited 2+ detected in recent experiments. The present study supports fully the pygmy nature of those transitions.
