The uniaxial strain compression test, also referred to as isentropic compression experiment, was analyzed using a simple basically analytical model. It accounts for the compression under prescribed loading rate of a single phase elastic, elastic-perfectly plastic, or elastic-viscoplastic material. In each case, stresses, elastic and plastic strain rates, as well as the kinetic, elastic, and plastic powers, were derived and compared.
