Search for the standard model Higgs boson decaying to two photons with CMS at the LHC
University of Notre Dame, IN, USA
a e-mail: nancy.marinelli@cern.ch
The search for the Higgs boson is presented on 10.4 fb−1 of data recorded with CMS at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) during proton-proton interaction runs at √s = 7 and 8 TeV. The search is performed in the mass range between 110 and 150 GeV and limits are set on the cross section in the context of the Standard Model. An excess of events above the expected background is observed at about 125 GeV which is consistent with the observation of a new boson statistically compatible with the Standard Model Higgs boson hypothesis.
