This research aims to evolve a robust vector command of a 3-phase synchronous reluctance motor (SynRM). The conventional 2-level inverter is replaced by a 3-level neutral-point-clamped (NPC) inverter. The first can only provide 8 voltage vectors, including 2 null vectors, while the second one can produce 27 voltage vectors, including 3 null vectors. The purpose is to reveal a voltage vector that is as close as possible to the reference vector; therefore, assuring a rapid response and enhancing the energetic performance on the other hand. A robust anti-windup structure is implemented in all loops. Simulation results demonstrate that the presented vector algorithm with the anti-windup controllers and the three-level NPC inverter provides well dynamic and static performance characteristics for diverse speed levels. The system reliability is tested during resistive torque, low, high, and reversal speeds to confirm the system stability.
